Just before the Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday, our team carried out the first phase of upgrading the Solar PV monitoring system at KOA Woh Intake, Tapah, alongside the second phase of knowledge transfer activities for the local community.
This project is funded by the Centre for Community and Industry Network (CCIN), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), under the leadership of Zulkarnain Noorden, and is conducted in collaboration with Mun Hean. The initiative aims to enhance the monitoring capabilities of the Solar PV system that was originally installed in 2019 through sponsorship by Sadaqa House.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
- Installing an external monitoring system that provides residents with clearer and more user-friendly information on the operational status of the Solar PV system.
- Comparing the performance data recorded by the newly developed monitoring platform with the data reported by the inverter.
- Providing a practical platform that enables residents to identify when maintenance or servicing is required.
The first trial provided valuable insights and highlighted several areas for improvement before the system can be fully optimized. While the initial results did not meet all expectations, the experience gained will help guide further enhancements in the next phase of development.
In addition to the technical activities, the project team conducted a second knowledge transfer session to further strengthen community understanding of system operation, monitoring, and maintenance practices.
The project will continue after the festive season as the team works towards delivering a more effective and sustainable monitoring solution for the community.
